Erasmus+ FAQ

Who is eligible for Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is open to students, trainees, young people, youth workers, and staff from participating countries. Eligibility criteria vary by program type — students typically need to be enrolled at an Erasmus+ accredited institution.

How much funding can I receive?

Grant amounts vary by destination country and program type. For higher education exchanges, monthly grants typically range from €150–€700 depending on the cost of living in the destination country. Travel grants are also available.

Can non-EU citizens participate?

Yes. Non-EU students enrolled at a participating institution in an eligible country can take part in Erasmus+ activities. The key requirement is typically institutional affiliation, not citizenship.

When are the application deadlines?

Deadlines vary by institution and program type. For Key Action 1 (mobility) projects, the main deadline for organisations is typically in February each year. Individual student deadlines are set by sending institutions, usually in spring or autumn.

Is Erasmus+ only for universities?

No. Erasmus+ covers higher education, vocational training, school education, adult education, youth, and sport. NGOs, companies, and public bodies can all participate in certain program areas.
